6MOB Spotlight: Your Friends in Thailand

We here at 6MOB just started up a new blog series: 6MOB Spotlight.

Our very first 6MOB spotlight is a but of a no brainer, in my opinion. Some of my very good friends, including Jake, MOBcast personality, are currently in Thailand partnering up with Life Impact International, an organization that fight human trafficking and has a safe house for those leaving a life of sex slavery.

They have the webs over there, so they have been blogging their way through their journey in an effort to make us aware of what’s happening halfway across the world, and so that we may be praying for them here while they are gone.

Lindsay

I encourage you all to check out their blog: yourfriendsinthailand.wordpress.com and keep up with Jake, Abby, Jade and Lindsay and God works through them these next couple of weeks.

My favorite part of this new 6MOB spotlight series, the “why you should give a rip” section.

You may be thinking a few different things as you read this:

Jade

“How do I support them, I don’t have any money!”

Perfect! They already have all of their funds raised! So move on the more important stuff, like praying for them!

“I know they’re doing good things, but I’m not a Christian. How am I supposed to pray for them?”

Great hypothetical questions imaginary person! For you, the important part is to know that they are not in Thailand because they are good people. They’re not their because they want to make a difference. And they’re not there because they want to. They’re there because everything they are doing is because they want to glorify God. They not his trip, seeing insane things to report back to us because they love Jesus and they want to see his name magnified. The best thing you, as someone who is not a Christian, to take away is the motivation for wanting to make Jesus’ name famous will lead Christians to do extraordinary things they wouldn’t do otherwise.

Jake

“I don’t even know any of the team over there. And I don’t know Jake, because I don not listen to the podcast.”

Easy fix: listen to the podcast. Also- you don’t need to know them to know they are a part of a community here in Southern California following what God wants for them. Pray for ‘em anyways! And, you can look at the pictures, they’re adorable.

Abby

You should give a rip because they are doing things and seeing things that many of us will never experience or be aware of, and they’re going to bring back information so YOU can be involved right here in the U.S.

If you do not know anything about the issue of Sex Slavery and Human Trafficking, or your heart hans’t broken for the issue, do your self and read some stories and check out some organizations that are doing something.

Start by checking out my friends: Forever Found and reading some personal stories of American children who have been trapped by this problem.

Ok, I totally stole that phrase from Apple. So sue me… On second thought. Please don’t. Ok, fine, I’ll change it. Let’s go with “Spotlight.”

That sounds great.

How does that sound to you? Wait, do you know what we’re talking about here?

Let me give you a little backgrounder…

I am starting up a new blog series called “Spotlight” (for name inspiration, see above). This blog series will revolve around the 6MOB team finding things of interest of the good  ol webs, and sharing with them with you. Each post will include three things:

1. A summery of the thing of interest we have found

2. A critical review of said interesting thing

3. A “why you should give a rip” section outlining why we ending up sharing said thing of extreme interest with you

Pretty straightforward, yes? Now, we still need to tie this in to our tagline: where bible college and culture collide. So the points of interest will be loosely tied to the aforementioned bit of information. I use the word loosely, loosely. Sometimes I may find something that in no way connects to our tagline. But being the CEO, president, founder, lead creative direction and pizza eater of Six Minutes of Banter, I think I can make an exception for myself. Done.

But the beauty of this here new blog series will be the involvement from the rest of the 6MOB team (Jake, Dan, Josh….. You?) in gathering what points of interest we can point your interest to.

So look out for our very first 6MOB Spotlight!
